NEW DISASTER RELIEF COORDINATOR APPOINTED
Effective January 1, 2008 Royce Jones will be stepping
down as the ABMEN NATIONAL DISASTER RELIEF COORDINATOR .
The Executive Board of ABMen USA has appointed
Jack Cobb to fill the Position of National
Disaster Relief Coordinator. This will take effective
January 1, 2008. Below is Jack's Bio and Contact Information
Jack
raised his family of one daughter in Scott Depot, West Virginia.
He is a graduate of the
University
of Charleston
with a BS in Chemistry. After 33 years of service with Union Carbide, he retired
as a Senior Chemist in 2002. The previous year he retired from the US Army
Reserve as a Command Sergeant Major, having completed over 30 years with
Ordnance logistics units.
During
more than 30 years at Mt.
Vernon Baptist
Church, he has served on
pastoral search committees, Boards of Christian Education and Deacons,
Constitution Revision Committees, as substitute Sunday School teacher, and as
assistant financial secretary. He is currently serving on the Nominating Board,
as assistant church clerk, and on committees to raise funds for a new sanctuary.
Jack
was appointed Disaster Relief Coordinator of the ABMen of West Virginia on
August 20, 2005,
one week before Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf
Coast.
He has led numerous teams to southern
Mississippi,
assisting families in their recovery from Hurricane Katrina’s destruction.
Immediately after the storm struck the
Gulf
Coast,
the ABMen of WV cut trees in Wiggins,
Mississippi
and surrounding
Stone
County
for several weeks, then moved to the coastal areas of Bay St. Louis and
Waveland. Their ministry continues in that area, passing from the cleanup and
gutting of houses into rebuilding.
